Critical cover for 24/7 peace of mind

Challenge

One of Germany’s largest data centers committed to delivering an uptime of 99.999%. This required contingency plans to maintain services in the event of equipment failure.

The data center's 28,000m² facility boasted more than 60 MW of IT load and has around 1500 circuit breakers across eight buildings.

Solution

ABB partnered with the data center to offer round-the-clock support and fixed servicing costs through a tailored ABB Power Care agreement.

The four-year contract included full maintenance of all circuit breakers, round-the-clock customer support, engineer call-out within 24 hours and a tailored ongoing maintenance program.

Outcome

Thanks to the partnership, the data center became more resilient to disruption, while also lowering operating costs and CO₂ emissions.

ABB also supported NEXTDC with supervision of installation and commissioning services.

Delivering 100% uptime for NEXTDC

Challenge

Australia’s leading independent data center operator, NEXTDC, needed to deliver on its brand promise to provide customers with a 100% uptime guarantee and needed a reliable partner to support them with this goal and keep their electrical infrastructure and automation technology running.

Solution

NEXTDC partnered with ABB in a long-term supply agreement which allows them to monitor and tune the performance of their critical data center facilities in real-time, identifying possible problems before they happen.

The comprehensive solution provided by ABB spans complete power distribution systems, critical services monitoring system, and associated implementation and support services.

Electrical infrastructure elements included in the agreement include step-down and isolation transformers, medium and low-voltage switchgear, high and low capacity busduct including intelligent tap-off boxes, and an industrial grade critical services monitoring and infrastructure management system.
